Lemon Myrtle (Backhousia citriodora) is a rainforest plant native to south east QLD. When crushed the leaves have a distinct lemon/lime scent. The leaves can be used dried and ground and have a stunning floral citrus flavour perfect for sweet and savoury uses.
Uses: Lemon myrtle has an incredible versatile flavour and can be used in a wide variety of dishes. Try adding to savouring dishes with fish or chicken, or sweets such sorbet, cookies, cheesecake and cordial. Traditionally Indigenous people would use it to help ease toothaches.
