Description
Textile Lab Sashiko Sampler – Block
Sashiko is a traditional Japanese embroidery and stitching technique that originated in rural Japan several centuries ago. The word “sashiko” translates to “little stabs” or “little pierce”. Sashiko’s aesthetic appeal and cultural significance have made it a popular choice among craft enthusiasts and artists worldwide. Whether for functional repairs or creative design, Sashiko continues to be a celebrated and cherished form of needlework and textile art.
The Textile Lab collection of Sashiko samplers from Olympus is a collaboration with Japanese Sashiko artist, Ayufish int. (@lastie.g) This collection of samplers offers a modern twist on traditional Sashiko designs, mixing the Sashiko styles of Moyozashi, Hitomezashi and Kugurizashi.
